Description

This canal warehouse, built around 1835, is located adjacent to Bridge Number 1 (Junction Bridge) on the Macclesfield Canal. It features random stone construction with ashlar dressings and a graduated stone slate roof. The building has a rectangular plan and stands two storeys high, with a shipping hole and an internal waterway. Notable architectural elements include stone quoins, coped gables with kneelers, and a small gable stack.

The canal-facing elevation is simple and includes a 20th-century timber canopy. On the left side, there is a door, a shipping hole with a timber lintel, and four window openings that have stone lintels and sills, fitted with 20th-century casement windows. The right side features a door on the first floor, accessed by a flight of stone steps, and a shipping hole at the end of the internal waterway. The rear of the building has been altered but appears to have once had a large two-storey opening that is now blocked, along with several window openings.
