Description
Bridge Number 2, also known as Church Lane Bridge, is a roving bridge on the Macclesfield Canal, completed by 1831 and designed by engineer William Crosley. The bridge is constructed of dressed stone with ashlar dressings. It features a skew design with a spiral towpath walk and a horseshoe arch that includes a keystone. The structure is adorned with an ashlar band and has concave parapet walls with rounded coping, which end in battered square piers, except where the design sweeps around the towpath walk.
