Description
Bleak House is an early 19th-century mill manager's house, now a private residence. Constructed of dressed stone, it has a graduated stone slate roof. The building is arranged with a 3-bay central-staircase plan across two storeys, plus a basement and attic. The central doorway features an etched glass overlight and a rusticated surround. Ground-floor and first-floor sash windows are also set within rusticated surrounds, with a sill band running along the first floor. Overhanging eaves are supported by bold, square stone brackets. Two ridge chimney stacks are present. Each gable has a pointed arch attic light.
