Description

This is a bridge built in the 1790s, formerly serving Mellor Lodge, and commissioned by Samuel Oldknow. It is constructed from ashlar and rock-faced stone. The bridge features a segmental keystone arch with rock-faced square projections on either side. It has a stone band and parapet walls made of large stone slabs. Centrally mounted on each parapet wall are gate posts. Mellor Lodge was the residence of Samuel Oldknow.
