Description

This is a farmhouse, now a house, built in 1797 for Samuel Oldknow. It is constructed of dressed stone with ashlar dressings and a 20th-century tile roof. The building has four bays and two storeys. The lower level features three large segmental arches in bays 2, 3, and 4. A first-floor band runs along the top of the lower level, and three circular windows are located on the first floor, each with ashlar surrounds. A first-floor door and a flight of steps are situated in bay 1. The right end of the building has a hipped roof, while the left end is semi-circular in plan. The semi-circular section features four two-light, flat-faced stone mullion windows on the ground floor, four round-headed windows on the first floor, a first-floor band, and a semi-circular attic light. The rear elevation has two-, three-, and two-light mullion windows. There is also a blocked cart opening with a semi-elliptical arch.
