Description
Lockside Mill is a canal warehouse that has been converted into offices. It was built in the early 19th century for Samuel Oldknow. The structure is made of dressed stone and features a graduated stone slate roof. It has seven bays across the front and three storeys on the canal side, with two storeys visible from the front. Each bay contains a round-headed, two-light casement window from the 20th century on both floors. The fourth bay is slightly advanced and includes loading bays with a jib and a canopy above.
On the left gable, there are five similar windows, a semi-elliptical arched doorway, a stone band at the eaves level, a blind arched attic light, and a chimney stack at the ridge. The right gable features two shipping holes, one of which is now blocked, both with semi-circular arches and dripmoulds, as well as six windows like those on the front and another blind arched attic light. The canal elevation has three tiers of similar windows and loading bays on the first and second floors, also with a canopy above.
