Description
The Council Offices in Marple is an early 19th-century house built from Flemish bond brick with ashlar dressings and a slate roof. It features a three-bay central-staircase plan, with two storeys and small later additions on either side, along with a 20th-century extension at the rear that is not of special interest. The building has an ashlar plinth, a first-floor band, an eaves cornice, and a hipped roof. The central bay and corners are slightly advanced. The 20th-century door includes a radial fanlight, side panels, and a flat canopy supported by Ionic columns. There are two ground-floor windows with sill panels and three first-floor windows, all of which are sash windows (with glazing bars removed) and have slightly cambered brick arches. A canted bay window is present on the right elevation.
