4/141 Clough House -

  • II

House. "T.L.1622" on datestone. Coursed stone with stone slate roof. 2-unit 2-storey plan with outshut to rear and later lean-to porch at front. A derelict wing adjoins to the right but appears to be of a later date. Stone plinth and quoins. The ground floor windows are 4 and 8-light (now with 2 and 3 mullions removed) with double-chamfered mullions and hoodmoulds. The first floor had flat-faced mullion windows although few mullions now exist. The rear has a 2-light (formerly 3) window and 2 and 3-light windows which have been blocked in, all were double-chamfered with hoodmoulds. The diagonally set chimney shaft with cornice is between the two units. The datestone is on a Tudor arched fire lintel with recessed spandrels, which is now part of the derelict wing projecting forward at right hand side.
