Description

This is a group of three houses, built around 1800. Number 4 is now a shop. They are constructed of watershot stone, which has been painted, with a stone slate and 20th-century tile roof. The buildings are three storeys high, with entrances on both Wardle Fold and Ramsden Road.

The Ramsden Road elevation has a later window opening to the ground floor. A door, with a simple, square-cut stone jamb and lintel, is situated to the right. A blocked taking-in door is visible at first-floor level, and there are five-light mullion windows to the first and second floors. These windows have had two mullions removed from each light.

The Wardle Fold elevation has two entrances. The ground floor has four windows, two of which are later additions, whilst the other two have lost all mullions. The first-floor windows are seven-light mullioned windows, with two of the mullions removed and two lights blocked. The second-floor windows consist of a nine-light and a five-light window, with four and two mullions removed respectively. The roof is hipped, with a brick ridge stack. The buildings are included on the list for their contribution to the character of the area.
