Description
Hill House is a house dated 1609, as indicated by the inscription on the door lintel. It is constructed of dressed stone, with 20th-century render and roof tiles. The building features a three-unit hearth-passage plan and has two storeys throughout. To the right, there is a 20th-century crosswing, along with a porch and a garage extension, and a parallel range at the rear.
The ground floor includes double-chamfered mullion windows with configurations of 4, 5, 2 (fire window), and 4 lights, all topped with a continuous ovolo-moulded band. The door surround is chamfered and features an inscribed Tudor arched lintel. The upper floor has flush chamfered mullioned windows that match the ground floor in light configuration. The gables are coped and have kneelers. The rear of the house is mostly hidden by the garages and the parallel range, which are either heavily restored or built in a 20th-century style that mimics 17th-century design, similar to the right-hand wing.
