Description

Rochdale Cemetery Gateway is a gateway built in 1855, constructed from coursed rubble with ashlar dressings. It features a large flattened arch, flanked by two smaller symmetrical gateways. All three arches are double chamfered and adorned with heraldic shields and scrolled ribbons above. They are separated by octagonal buttresses that have weatherings, bands, and crocketed pinnacles. Each end of the gateway is finished with weathered angle buttresses that have diagonally set square shafted crocketed pinnacles. The gables are coped and stepped, and the gates are made of cast iron.
