Description

This is a late 18th-century house, now divided into two separate dwellings. It is located in Saddleworth, on Wool Road. The building is constructed from hammer-dressed watershot stone with a roof of graduated stone slates. It has a single-depth plan, totaling three bays and three storeys.

The symmetrical front elevation features quoins. The central doorway has a dressed surround, and there are five-light recessed flat-faced stone mullion windows on each floor of bays 1 and 3. Bay 2 has a single-light window on the upper floors. Shaped brackets support the eaves gutter. The rear of the building includes two blocked taking-in doors, windows on each floor in bay 2, and a small 19th-century lean-to extension. Inside, there is a vaulted cellar and a workshop on the top floor, which originally extended the full length of the house.
