Description

Three houses, located on Huddersfield Road, Saddleworth, were constructed in the middle and late 18th century. They are built of hammer-dressed stone, predominantly watershot, with a graduated stone slate roof. The building comprises a two-bay, two-storey range set at right angles to a two-bay, three-storey range. The second bay of the main front is the oldest part and features a door with a square-cut surround, a five-light recessed flat-faced mullion window on the ground floor, and a six-light recessed window above. The first bay has a six-light recessed chamfered mullion window with a king mullion, and a three-light recessed flat-faced window on the first floor. Quoins are present. Gable chimney stacks rise from the structure, with one having been rebuilt in brick. The rear range (incorporating numbers 45 and 47) was built in two phases and features square-cut and dressed door surrounds, as well as five, six, and seven-light recessed flat-faced stone mullion windows, and ridge chimney stacks. Number 45 is double-depth, but the rear upper floors are now incorporated into number 49.
