Description
No. 25 Manor Street is a town house that is part of a row of three terraced houses, built between 1805 and 1806. The building is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond, with some sandstone dressings and a slate roof. It has a double-depth, double-fronted plan with a back extension and stands two storeys over a basement.
The façade features three windows, with a central round-headed doorway accessed by three steps. This doorway has a set-in Tuscan doorcase and a fanlight with radiating glazing bars. To the right of the doorway is an elliptical-headed wagon doorway with a gauged brick head and wooden doors. On the left side, there is a basement window and a 12-pane sashed window on the ground floor. The first floor has three similar windows, all with raised sills and flat-arched heads made of gauged brick. Ridge chimneys are located at the junctions to the left and right.
At the rear, there are sashed windows with glazing bars and a cellar door. The interior retains original features, including the staircase and cellars. This house forms a group with Nos. 21 and 23 to the left and No. 27 to the right. It is a rare example of a small house from this period that is still in domestic use, located close to the city centre.
