Description
No. 16 Grimshaw Street is a town house built around 1820 to 1840, with some alterations. It is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond, featuring sandstone dressings and a slate roof. The building has a double-depth single-fronted plan with a back extension and stands three storeys high over a cellar. It has a two-window range, with a sill-band on the first floor and a moulded gutter cornice. To the right of the windows is an elliptical-headed doorway, which has a moulded surround, a panelled door, and a fanlight. The ground-floor windows have been replaced, while the first floor features 12-pane sash windows and the second floor has short 9-pane sash windows. The rear and interior of the building were not inspected. This property forms a group with No. 18 to the left.
