Description

The Olde Blue Bell Public House is a public house with a former brewhouse attached to the rear. It likely dates from the earlier 18th century and was altered and enlarged in the 19th century. The building is constructed of brick in English garden wall bond, painted white, with a black-painted plinth and a slate roof. It has a double-depth layout, consisting of a single-depth front range with a parallel addition at the back.

The structure has three low storeys and three bays, although there are only two windows on the first floor. The ground floor features a central round-headed doorway with a pilastered surround and a plain fanlight, sheltered by a large semi-circular hood on brackets. There are wide rectangular three-light casement windows, some of which contain early 20th-century stained glass. The first floor has two vertical-rectangular two-light casement windows, while the second floor has three square two-light casements, all with raised sills. The building has gable chimneys.

The interior has been altered. Attached to the rear is a small 19th-century brewhouse made of red brick in English garden wall bond, which is rectangular in plan and has two low storeys. It features a circular pitching hole and a four-pane sash window on the first floor, while the ground floor has been altered, and it also includes a gable chimney.
