Description
21 and 23 Manor Street are two townhouses located in a terraced row of three, which also includes No. 25. They were built around 1805-1806 and have been altered over time. The houses are constructed of red brick in Flemish bond, with some sandstone dressings and a slate roof. Each house has a double-depth plan and is double-fronted, featuring individual back extensions.
They are two storeys high with basements, and each house has three windows on the ground and first floors, arranged symmetrically. The central round-headed doorways are accessed by three steps and are framed by set-in Tuscan doorcases. No. 21 has a panelled door, while both houses have blocked fanlights. The windows have raised sills and flat-arched heads made of gauged brick, with some showing remnants of altered glazing, although most were void at the time of the survey. There are corniced chimney stacks at the left gable and on the ridge at the junction. The rear and interior of the houses were not inspected. These buildings form a group with No. 25 and No. 27 to the right.
