Description
No. 8 Stanley Terrace is a town house built around 1830, with some alterations. It is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond, featuring sandstone dressings and a slate roof. The house has a double-depth, double-fronted plan with a back extension and stands two storeys over cellars. The facade is symmetrical with three windows, a plain frieze, and a moulded gutter cornice.
On the ground floor, there is a wide doorway framed by a doorcase with engaged Ionic columns, an entablature that includes a moulded cornice and blocking course, a panelled door, and an overlight with radiating tracery. This doorway is flanked by large rectangular bay windows, arranged in a 1:2:1 light configuration, with panelled pilasters and dentilled cornices. The first floor features windows with raised sills and wedge lintels, all of which are sashed without glazing bars. The building is included for its group value with other structures in the terrace.
