Description
31 Churchgate is a shop building, reputed to have had a datestone from 1667, although the front section is at least from the late 18th century. It is constructed of painted brick and topped with a heavy slate roof.
The exterior features a low two-storey structure with a two-window range, which is extended by a single-window range to the left, likely filling in a former passageway. The central entrance leads to a late 18th or early 19th-century shop front, flanked by slightly bowed windows with 20 panes, all set in moulded wood architraves. The first floor has 4-pane sash windows. There are gable and axial stacks on the left side, and a rear wing that is taller. To the right, there is a segmentally arched doorway leading to the passageway.
The interior has not been inspected.
