Description

A pair of houses, now offices, were built in 1786 as part of a larger terrace in Wood Street, Bolton. The buildings are constructed with a brick core and rendered exterior, covered by a slate roof. They are three storeys high and feature a five-window facade, divided into a three-window section for No.15 with a central entrance, and a two-window section for No.17 with an entrance to the left. A passage entry sits between the two houses. No.17 has a pedimented doorcase with a traceried fanlight above the door, while No.15 has a round-arched architrave. The windows have been replaced, although they match the original openings. Internally, the original room layouts remain. No.17 preserves its original staircase, a curved dog-leg design with moulded tread-ends, a continuous swept rail, and plain spindle-like balusters. Original plaster cornices and an archway dividing the hall are also present.
