Description
Scott House is a house that is part of a longer terrace located at 27 Silverwell Street in Bolton. It dates from the early 19th century and is currently used as offices. The building is constructed of brick and has a slate roof.
The exterior features two storeys and a single-window range, with a doorway on the left set in a segmental arch that has a plain overlight above it. To the right, there are 16-pane sash windows on each floor, with a flat arched brick head above the lower window. There is a four-window return to the continuation of Silverwell Street on the right side, which includes a second entrance framed by a moulded wood architrave.
The interior has not been inspected. Historically, the house was given to the Guild of Help in 1926 in memory of its founder, Sir James Scott, and his wife, Lady Scott. Plaques on each elevation commemorate them.
