SILVERWELL STREET (North side) No.27 Scott House

GV II

House forming part of longer terrace (15-25 Silverwell Street, qqv), and now in use as offices. Early C19. Brick with slate roof. EXTERIOR: 2 storeys, single-window range with doorway to left set in segmental arch with plain overlight. 16-pane sash windows on each floor to the right, with flat arched brick head to lower window. 4-window return to continuation of Silverwell Street to right, with second entrance in moulded wood architrave. INTERIOR: not inspected. HISTORY: the house was given to the Guild of Help in 1926, in memory of its founder and his wife, Sir James and Lady Scott, and plaques on each elevation commemorate them.
