Pair of houses now offices, forming part of a longer terrace with Nos 14 & 16 Wood Street (qv). c1790. Brick with slate roof. EXTERIOR AND PLAN: 3 storey, 11-window range. The 2 houses are symmetrically planned, each with a central entrance flanked by 2 windows to each side, and they are divided by a segmentally arched carriage entrance. Both have 6-panelled doors with wrought-iron fanlights in pedimented cases with engaged shafts; 12-pane sash windows (and fixed 6-light windows to right of doorway) survive to ground floor in No.18, renewed in No.20 with 2-pane sashes. 2 upper windows in No.20 also renewed with 2-pane sash windows, the rest 12-pane sashes, with 4 and 6-pane attic windows. The upper windows of No.18 all renewed in original openings (and one reduced in size over doorway). Moulded eaves cornice. End wall stacks. INTERIOR: not inspected.
