Description

The railings and walls to the underground public conveniences in Nelson Square, Bolton, date from around 1900. They are made of cast iron and stone. The railings are heavily enriched, featuring urn finials and scroll-work. Stone piers are positioned over the steps and display the arms of the city in low relief. These railings and walls contribute to the setting of the nearby statue of Samuel Crompton.
