Description
14 and 16 South Street is a shop building dating from around 1830, with later 19th-century alterations and extensions, as well as 20th-century modifications. The front is made of gault brick, while the rear is constructed of red brick, and the roof is hipped to the left, covered with Welsh slate and featuring a tall gable stack on the right. The eaves are overhanging.
The exterior consists of two storeys and a three-bay front, with an angled corner to the left. This corner contains a half-glazed and panelled curved door, which is topped by a radiating fanlight and set beneath a semi-circular stucco arch with imposts. To the right of the door is a narrow glazing bar window, followed by a wider glazing bar shop window that has a 20th-century fascia above it. On the first floor, there is a projecting 19th-century oriel window supported by brackets, with three glazing bar sash windows to the right that have cambered heads and splayed brick arches. The side front features three glazing bar sashes on the ground floor, with the leftmost window having a rusticated stone arched head. The interior has not been inspected.
