Description
No. 18 South Street is a house that has been converted into a shop with offices above. It dates from the late 18th century and was altered in the 20th century. The building is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond and features a slate roof with two reduced gable stacks, along with stone and stucco dressings.
The exterior has three storeys and a three-bay front, with stone sill bands on each floor and deeply overhanging eaves. The ground floor has a 20th-century shop front with an entrance on the left. The first floor contains three glazing bar sash windows, while the second floor has three smaller similar windows. All windows have flat heads and splayed stucco lintels.
Inside, the building retains a turned baluster staircase, some contemporary doors, and a fire surround in the front room on the first floor.
