Description

This is a milestone, likely from the late 19th century, situated on the southeastern side of Warrington Road in Culcheth with Glazebury. The milestone has a triangular shape with a straight back and a downward sloping top. The inscriptions on it read 'NEWCHURCH TOWNSHIP OF CULCHETH' at the top, 'TO WARRINGTON 7 MILES' on the left side, and 'TO LEIGH 3 3/4 MILES' on the right side. It was erected between 1894 and 1908/9 and serves as an important historical marker reflecting the area's transport history.
