Description
The North Barn at Hurst Hall is a structure that dates back to the late 15th century and was originally part of an old hall, now repurposed as a barn. The building features an exposed pair of posts with arch braces, but is primarily clad in thin early red bricks and topped with a stone slate roof. It consists of two full bays and two half bays at each end, is a single storey, and is open to the roof. There are large full-height openings on both sides of the building. The posts support a roof truss that includes arch bracing to cambered tie beams. Additionally, two similar trusses are supported by the walls, featuring cusped king posts and struts that hold two rows of oak purlins, a ridgetree, and three tiers of quatrefoil wind braces.
