Description

Yew Tree Farmhouse is an early 18th-century farmhouse that was altered in the 20th century. It is constructed of red brick and has a Welsh slate roof. The building features a twin-gabled front with two storeys and a double-depth layout. The door, located to the left of the centre, has an overlight and a later brick arch. The left gable, which was rebuilt around 1950, has three-light casement windows on each floor, and the gable is decorated with three hearts made from raised headers. The right gable retains its original brickwork and has similar windows, with the upper window set beneath an original hoodmould and also featuring three hearts.

The farmhouse has lateral stacks, with the right stack being cement-rendered and rising from a lean-to addition. At the rear, there are five 20th-century casements similar to those at the front. The ground-floor left window is beneath an original hoodmould that extends to cover a blocked doorway on the right, while the other windows show traces of original hoodmoulds. To the left of the valley, there is a small blocked window with an arched head, and to the right, there is an intact brick-mullioned window with two lights. The left return has been rebuilt, although the lateral stack is made of old brickwork.

Inside, the farmhouse features beamed ceilings visible in three ground-floor rooms, an old oak door beneath the stairs, and a staircase with contemporary turned balusters, square newels, and ball finials. There is also resisted panelling at the top of the stair and principal-rafter trusses. The farmhouse is approached via Hand Lane.
