Description
The South Barn at Hurst Hall is a former cottage from the early 17th century that is now used as a farm building. It is constructed from small red bricks and has a slate roof. The building is two storeys high and consists of three bays, with a single-storey outshot to the east. The doors and windows have been altered, with some retaining the remains of projecting brick labels. The first-floor facade features stone mullion windows, while the gable has a horizontal sliding sash window.
Inside, the barn has king post trusses with cambered tie beams, as well as intermediate collar trusses with arched braces. It also includes oak purlins, ridgetree wind braces, and a deep oak wallplate.
