Description

This is a milestone located on Warrington Road, opposite Rowe Farm. It dates from the late 19th century to early 20th century and is made of stone. The milestone has a triangular shape with a downward sloping top. The lettering on the top is partially unclear but likely reads 'NEWCHURCH', similar to another milestone along the same road. The inscription includes '......... TOWNSHIP OF CULCHETH' at the top, 'TO LEIGH 5 3/4 MILES' on the left, and 'TO WARRINGTON 5 MILES' on the right. The milestone was erected between 1894 and 1911 and holds significant historic interest as a reminder of the area's transport history.
