Description

The war memorial, built around 1920, is located on Main Road in Moulton. It features a yellow ashlar sandstone base topped with a marble statue. The front of the memorial has a chamfered plinth with rusticated rockwork above it, and the base is inscribed with "Unveiled by Captain W H France-Hayhurst JP / December 18th 1920". Above this is a tapered section that lists the names of the fallen, topped with a cyma-moulded cornice. The plinth sweeps up to support a statue of a soldier standing at ease, leaning against a shattered tree trunk.
