Description

MOULTON C.P. MAIN ROAD SJ 66 NE 5/78 War Memorial - - II War memorial. c1920. Yellow ashlar sandstone base with marble statue above. Road front: chamfered plinth with rusticated rockwork above and base above inscribed "Unveiled by Captain W H France-Hayhurst JP / December 18th 1920". Above is a tapered body inscribed with the names of the dead with cyma-moulded cornice above. Swept plinth rising to statue showing soldier standing at ease and leaning against a shattered tree-trunk.
