Description

The Lodge is an early 19th-century gate lodge, originally serving Davenham Hall, and later converted into a house. It is constructed of whitewashed stuccoed brick with a slate roof. The building is single-storied and features a projecting plinth and cornice at eaves level along the front. A bowed wing is set to the left, with a central doorway having a pedimental surround and a six-panel door with raised and fielded panels. Cross windows flank the doorway. Incised linear decoration is present on the reveals of the bow’s left and right sides. To the right is a recessed single bay with a four-light sash window. The roof is hipped and includes lead flashings. Pavilions of a similar design extend to the rear and left side of the property. It was formerly a gate lodge to Davenham Hall.
