Description

The Vicarage, built around 1876 by John Douglas, is a two-storey building constructed of red English bond brick with a slate roof. The entrance front features a brick string course at the level of the ground floor window sills, with cogged bond detailing between the floors and a second string course at the level of the first floor window sills, all of which continues around the building.

To the right, there is a gabled wing with a central chimneystack that has offsets. The slightly recessed portion to the left includes a pointed arched porch entrance, approached by two stone steps, with a hood mould above. Adjacent to the porch is a four-light mullioned window with a moulded brick surround. Above the porch entrance, a three-light half-dormer window features mullions, a moulded brick surround, and a decorated gable. A chimney stack is located at the left-hand gable end.

On the right-hand return, there is a gabled bay window on the left with a five-light mullioned window and a moulded brick surround on the ground floor, and a similar window above. Both floors have single light windows on the returns, with a rendered gable above. To the right of this bay window is a low three-light ground floor window, with a four-light mezzanine staircase window above that has brick mullions, transoms, and arched lights. There is also a four-light ground floor window to the right of this.

At the rear, a projecting gabled wing is located to the left, featuring a canted hipped bay window on the ground floor with three central lights and two lights at the angles. Above this, there is a five-light window on the first floor and decorative brickwork on the gable, which has a cogged band at its lower margin. To the right of this wing is a four-light ground floor kitchen window, with a slightly recessed lean-to to the right that has a single-light window.
