Description
This barn, located about 20 yards north-west of Holmston Hall, dates from the mid to late 17th century and has mid 19th century additions and alterations. It is timber framed with clapboard covering and a slate roof, which was probably originally thatch. The courtyard front features two doorways on the right and two on the left, with double garage doors from the 20th century positioned between the two left-hand doors. There are single-light windows on the left and paired windows in the center and on the right. The first floor has rectangular loft doors at the extreme left and right, with four more located in the center. Additionally, there are three pigeon loft holes to the left of center. The roof is supported by six trusses, featuring similar gables and trusses with queen posts and angle braces beneath cambered tie beams, collars, and wind braces. The structure includes two sets of purlins and a ridge beam.
