Description
The barn at Holmefield Farm is a 17th-century structure that was refaced in the 19th century. Originally timber framed, it still retains some principal rafters, collar, and tie beams of the timber frame roof, which is now supported on brick piers. The barn is built of red brick and features a pantile roof with a brick-coped left gable that faces Dog Lane.
On the front, there is a single small fixed light window flanked by slit ventilators. To the left, a two-storey doorway with a wooden door is present, above which is a single diamond ventilation pattern, also flanked by slit ventilators. Attached to the left side of the barn is a single-storey brick lean-to that has a doorway with a wooden door beneath a segmental arch. Projecting from this lean-to is a single-storey brick wing that includes a central 20th-century casement window, flanked by two doorways, one of which has a segmental head. This wing connects to the right side of the house.
The left gable of the barn features a re-set ashlar plaque inscribed with 'I.T. 1741', likely taken from the house.
