Description

The Scrooby War Memorial is a war memorial that was unveiled in 1920 and designed and made by Clarkson and Co. of Rotherham. It is constructed from polished grey granite and features a broken column set on a tapering plinth, which is placed on a two-stage square base that itself rests on a single-step base. The memorial has a lightly incised inscription that runs downwards from the lower section of the obelisk over the plinths, which reads: 1914-1919/ IN GRATEFUL MEMORY OF THE MEN WHO DIED FOR THEIR COUNTRY IN THE GREAT WAR (6 names) THE PRICE OF VICTORY.
