Description
A group of circa 1860 farm buildings located north of Alpraham Hall. The buildings are constructed of red brick with tiled roofs and follow an "L" shaped plan, comprising two wings each with seven bays. The buildings originally housed a range of farm functions. They feature half heck doors fixed with wrought iron hooks and bands, set into stone blocks, along with more recent sliding doors, some with glazed upper sections. Ground floor windows are of the mild steel hopper light type, and gabled half dormers with cast iron lattice casements light the loft level. Loft access is provided by ledged and battened doors, one single door recessed under a semicircular arch in the north building, and a pair of doors that open outwards on the east wing. Circular pitch holes, originally with stone sills, are now mostly glazed internally. Inside, the floors are of softwood, supported by softwood roof timbers, some of which are framed in the traditional style.
