Description
Hillcrest is a farmhouse built in 1729, as noted on a tablet at the first floor. It is constructed of red brick with a slate roof and features two storeys and two bays in an "L" shaped plan. The building has a sandstone plinth, flush stone quoins, and a slightly projecting weathered stone band at the first floor level. The entrance consists of a framed, ledged, and battened door with a glazed panel, which is accessed by three stone steps. The ground floor has slightly recessed flush casements with glazing bars, terracotta sills, and cambered arches. At the first floor, there is a diamond-shaped tablet inscribed with the initials IM C and the date. The gable end stacks were rebuilt in the 20th century, and the barge boards are plain. Inside, the farmhouse features exposed beams and floor joists.
