Description

The icehouse at Tilstone Lodge is an early 19th-century structure built from red brick and topped with a timber roof. It features a short barrel-vaulted tunnel that leads to a circular chamber. The entrance front has a rectangular central doorway, which is adorned with ashlar hinge-dressings and an ashlar lintel. There are retaining walls on either side of the doorway, and an arched overthrow above it, finished with a coping of headers. Inside the circular chamber, the walls are covered in stucco.
