Description

The ice house at Constable Burton, dating from the late 18th century, is constructed of rubble and brick. It features a circular plan and is set into the ground with a hemispherical vaulted roof made of brick. A barrel-vaulted tunnel, also made of brick, is built into the hillside. The entrance has a doorway with a projecting stone slab lintel, which is wider than the tunnel and tapers toward the apex.
