Description

The Laundry Block, now an outbuilding, was built around 1765 by John Carr of York for Sir Marmaduke Wyvill. It is constructed from ashlar sandstone and features a stone slate roof. The building is two stories high with a two-bay central block and single-storey, three-bay wings that are set back. It has a plinth and sash windows with glazing bars, including a six-pane sash window on the first floor of the central block. There are first-floor and cornice bands, and the roof is hipped at the ends and over the central block. A central cemented chimney stack rises from the central block, and there are entrances located in the returns.
