Description
The stable block at Bunbury Locks, part of the Shropshire Union Canal, dates from the mid-19th century and has undergone some alterations in the 20th century. It is constructed of brick and features a plain tile roof with six 20th-century ventilators. The building is single-storey and has 20 bays, which include seven doorways with plank stable doors, each flanked by single four-light windows. All openings are cambered arched and have stone sills. The doors are equipped with stone mountings for hinges and catches. Additionally, there is a large 20th-century retractable door in the southeast gable end wall. This stable block is part of an important group of canal buildings and is recognized as a scheduled ancient monument.
