Description
Brook Farmhouse is a former farmhouse that has been converted into a private dwelling. It dates back to the early 17th century and features a brick nogged timber frame with a slate roof. The building is single storey with an attic and has three window bays. It stands on a stone plinth and showcases close studding made from large timbers, along with angle braces. The original leaded casements have been replaced, and the upper storey windows are set in gabled dormers that have barge boards. A modern rear wing on the south side creates a "T" shaped plan.
Inside, the farmhouse has bevelled beams and exposed joists, with the framing visible in the internal walls. There is a wide boarded door with strap hinges, and an inserted 18th-century alabaster mantel. The truss features struts and braces connected to the tie beam.
