Description
The north gates to St Boniface's Churchyard are likely from the early 19th century, with restorations carried out in 1875, 1889, and 1910. They feature sandstone ashlar piers that support timber and metal gates. The piers are square in shape and have ogee and ovalo moulded caps topped with ball finials. Inscriptions on the piers indicate the dates of restoration and the names of church wardens Samuel Rutter, Richard Boffey, Maurice Hulse, and Albert Major. The gates themselves consist of timber stiles and three rails, with vertical round fleur-de-lis topped rods passing through the rails. They are mounted on hook and band hinges and are marked with the date of their replacement in 1910.
