Description
Little Orchard is a private house that dates from the late 17th century but has the appearance of an early 19th-century building. It features whitened brick and a tiled roof, standing two storeys tall with an attic and two bays. There are later additions at the rear (north). The ground floor has three-light flush casements with glazing bars and cambered arches. The entrance includes a four-panel half-glazed door with a wide external casing, external lining with architraves, and a flat door hood that is topped by an arched recess reaching up to the eaves level. The eaves are decorated with a dentil treatment. A modern mid-slope dormer is present, along with gable end stacks. Light timber framing can be seen in the east gable and the rear (north-east) corner. Inside, the house features bevelled beams, exposed ceiling joists, an inglenook, and timbers in the internal walls. It is said to have been the original Dysart Arms.
