Description
This is a milepost located in Chester City, approximately 300 meters south-west of Overleigh roundabout. It was made around 1900 for Chester City Council and is constructed of cast iron. The milepost features a plinthed octagonal design, standing 2 meters high. It has a plate with corners that are pecked in a quadrant shape and a top that rises to a point, inscribed with "CHESTER 1 MILE" in raised sans serif capitals. The ironfounder responsible for this milepost is RT Smith of Whitchurch, Salop.
