Description
This milepost, located 50 metres east of the Boughton gyratory, dates from around 1900 and was made by RT Smith and Co. of Whitchurch, Shropshire. It is constructed from cast iron and features a slightly tapered octagonal post that stands approximately 2 metres high. The post carries a shaped plate with the raised inscription "CHESTER CROSS: 1 MILE." This milepost is part of a set that was erected by Chester City Council between 1900 and 1903 along main access routes to Chester.
