Description

"Craigside" is a late 17th-century town house that has been altered in the 18th and 20th centuries. The front is finished in brick and stucco, topped with a grey slate roof. The building has four storeys and three windows, featuring two front gables; the left gable has one window, while the right has two. The front underwent significant restoration in the mid-20th century.

On the ground floor, there is a 6-pane sash window in an architrave, a replaced part-glazed door set in an opening with rusticated quoins and head, and another 6-pane sash window. The first floor includes a 16-pane sash in an architrave, a smaller 12-pane sash, and a larger 12-pane sash. The second floor has windows similar to those on the first floor, while the third floor features three replaced 4-pane casements.

The central part of the ground, first, and second floors projects slightly, possibly indicating a former porch. Some window sills suggest that earlier windows may have been wider than the current flush sashes. There is a floor-band at the third floor of the right wing, and a chimney that is corbelled out at the third floor. The old brick wall of the rear wing on the left side has flush sandstone quoins, and the right side has some sash windows.

The interior has not been inspected but is noted to have been substantially altered during a mid-20th-century conversion. The garden is terraced and features terracotta-dressed walls.
