Riverside And Garden Walls

A detached house and its garden walls, dating from the 1850s. The house is lined with render and has a grey slate roof, half-hipped in form. It is designed in a symmetrical Italianate style. The front elevation features a 4-panel door with a radial-bar fanlight. Either side of the door are small windows; on the ground floor, round-arched 13-pane sashes, and above, a triple 8-pane sash. Long, blank wings extend outwards on either side. The first floor has a probable inserted 9-pane sash to each side. A simple plinth supports the building, with a string course, frieze, and cornice at the level of the doorway impost. A first-floor sillband runs along the elevation, and moulded arches with keys feature prominently. The right side of the house has ground-floor sashes, a first-floor sillband, a tripartite 6;9;6-pane sash with pilasters and a central pedimented entablature, a 6-pane sash to the left, and a blank sash recess to the right. Two segmental-arched 6-pane sashes are found in the attic. The west-facing elevation, overlooking the River Dee, has a 2-storey canted bay window on the right. The ground floor has three 6-pane sashes to the left, a pair of 3-pane French windows in the central face of the bay window, and a 6-pane full-length sash on each oblique face. The first floor has three 12-pane sashes, a 12-pane sash in the central face, and an 8-pane sash on each oblique face. A conservatory with a lean-to roof adjoins the right side of the house. The interior has not been inspected. Subsidiary features include garden walls on both the left and right sides of the property.
