Description

The east entrance to Campbell Memorial Hall, located in Boughton, is a Grade II listed structure built in 1897 by T.M. Lockwood for the St Pauls Parochial Church Council. The building features stone-dressed brick and timber framing, with brick-nogged and plaster panels, topped by a brown tile roof.

The exterior consists of two storeys and two bays. The left bay has two rows of four panels of brick-nogged timber framing, which include a one-light leaded casement and a two-light leaded casement, along with a framed and boarded door set in an arched timber frame. The right bay features a sandstone plinth, a four-light leaded window, and a part-glazed framed and boarded door within a stone-dressed basket archway that leads to a corridor and the hall kitchen. A moulded stone stringcourse runs along the building.

The jettied first floor of the left bay has a close-studded wall with shaped tops to the plaster panels and a four-light leaded casement. The stone-dressed brick right bay also has a four-light leaded casement, a moulded stringcourse, and a stone cartouche dated 1897 at the base of the gable, which is adorned with a stone band, coping, and three ball finials. A similar gable is present at the rear of the cottage.

On the left side of the cottage, the ground floor is red brick, while the first floor is timber-framed, featuring a four-light mullioned leaded casement in a close-studded plaster-panelled wall. The gable has herringbone struts, and there are two stone-banded shaped brick chimneys. The interior has not been inspected.
